NECK PAIN
Common Causes Of Neck Pain
- Neck pain may result from abnormalities in the soft tissue – intervertebral discs, muscles, ligaments, and nerves – as well as in bones and joints of the spine. In some people, neck problems may be the source of pain in the upper back, shoulders, or arms.
- Cervical disc degeneration can also cause neck pain. The disc acts as a shock absorber between the bones in the neck. As the disc space narrows, added stress is applied to the joints of the spine causing further wear and degenerative disease. When the rim of the disc weakens the center of the disc may protrude and cause pressure to be placed on the spinal cord or nerve roots, this is known as a herniated cervical disc.
- Degenerative and inflammatory diseases are also causes of neck pain. They include osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Both of these major types of arthritis can cause stiffness and pain.

How We Diagnose and Treat Neck Pain
Diagnosis will begin with either an x-ray or an MRI to locate the specific structures causing the pain. Physicians are then able to target the area that requires attention while ensuring that there is no injury to the surrounding regions. A number of treatment options are available including the state of the art technology of spinal distraction and decompression to gradually relieve compression of the nerve often associated with neck pain. The process has been proven to relieve pain by enlarging disc space, reducing herniations, and reversing high intradiscal pressure.
Each treatment is virtually pain free and takes under an hour. Patients report feeling relaxed and comfortable throughout the treatment.
Chiropractic and Physical Therapy evaluations will be done and Chiropractic manipulations and individualized exercise programs and other modalities such as; electrical stimulation and ultrasound may be recommended.
